St. Benedict's medal is filled with symbolic images. The front of the medal has the image of St. Benedict holding a cross in his right hand. On each side of St. Benedict are Latin words meaning: “The Cross of the Holy Father Benedict.” Faithful Saint Benedict of Nursia credited surviving a venomous snake bite to a pendant he carried around that was blessed with holy water.
There are spiritual benefits associated with the pious use of the medal including warding off evil and temptation, obtaining the conversion of sinners, help for women during childbirth, strength in preserving purity, granting the grace of a happy death, protection during storms, and interceding for curing diseases.
